Preparing To Make the Move

Hey Everyone!

I just recently graduated from Indiana University and in a few short months I will be making the move from  the small town of Bloomington, IN (go Hoosiers!) to the wonderful big city of Chicago! I will be attending The John Marshall Law School as a first year law student and I am excited, scared, anxious, and every other emotion all at the same time. I don't know how many of you have made the move into a big city by yourself but let me tell you, it is stressful. First off, have you ever tried to find a roommate? I was lucky enough to come across one that will be attending the same school as I am after a few weeks of freaking out that I would be living alone in a city where I know only a handful of people. The next big thing is finding an apartment. Do you know how many apartments there are in Chicago? A lot. Needless to say there have been countless hours spent both on my part and my future roommates part searching the internet endlessly to find places that are both affordable (by city standards) and have easy access to public transportation all while being in a safe neighbourhood. Trying to get people to return your phone calls and answer your questions can be like pulling teeth but fingers crossed we will be able to find a place that we both love (or like enough) when we go look at places in a few weeks.

If any of you have advice on things to do, places to go/see or any great little hidden places to eat please let me know! I can't wait to explore the city and find interesting places to share with you all. I know life as a law student is going to be tough, probably tougher than I can even prepare myself for. Did I mention they sent out a list with twelve suggested readings already? I think I am ready for the challenge though, and more than anything I am ready to move to the city and start this chapter of my life!

I will do my best to keep you updated on how things are going with school, life, and any interesting places I find in the city.

Best,
Amy
